But how many of these concepts were realised changed quite a lot on the way. The heat bloom, the pyramid, the hunt, Lex and Scar are all present, as are most of the major cast in one way or another. The overall plot of Paul WS Anderson’s AvP remained largely unchanged through the course of its journey from script to screen. Much has been written about various concepts that were abandoned for a big-screen adaptation of AvP. This article instead focuses specifically on Anderson’s project as it developed from R-rated globe-trotting epic to 90 minute PG-13 popcorn fest.
